Terms of Use
These terms are an agreement between you and Valerio Santucci (Andreas Hofer-Straße 14/C3, 6330 Kufstein, Austria, valeriosantucci.at@gmail.com), "we", for using the MeetHive! app ("MeetHive!"). Together with our Community Guidelines they say what is allowed on MeetHive! and how we moderate. By creating an account you accept them. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data.
1. The service
MeetHive! lets you find events near you, host your own, invite your Hive, check guests in with a QR pass, and share photos and videos ("moments"), stories and comments with other people, and chat with them in private messages. We are not the organizer of any event: each event is organized by its host, who is responsible for it.
2. Your account
- You must be at least 16 years old. Events marked 18+ are only for adults. Give your real birth date.
- You sign in with Apple or Google; keep that account secure. You're responsible for what happens in your MeetHive! account.
- One person, one account. Don't impersonate anyone.
- You can delete your account at any time in the app (You → Settings → Delete account). This can't be undone.
3. Hosting events
- As a host you are responsible for your event: that it is real, lawful and described honestly, that you have the right to use the place, any permits it needs, and the safety of the people you invite.
- Follow the law where the event happens, including on alcohol (mark events with alcohol 18+ where required), noise, capacity and public order.
- Cancel in the app if the event won't take place: your guests are told.
- Co-hosts you add can see your guests, invite people and check guests in; you stay responsible for the event.
4. Meeting up safely
MeetHive! connects people who meet offline. We don't check who users are or what happens at events. Use your judgement: meet in public places, tell a friend where you're going, and leave if you feel unsafe. In an emergency call your local emergency number (112 in the EU; 133 for the police in Austria). Report and block anyone who makes you uncomfortable.
5. Your content
- What you post stays yours. You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, process and show it in MeetHive! to the people who can see it, for as long as it's there (and, for content we remove, for the time described in section 6).
- Post only what you have the right to share. Ask before posting photos or videos of other people, and take them down if someone asks you to.
- Photos, videos and stories count against your plan's storage and size limits, shown in the app.
- Messages. You can chat freely with your hivers. Anyone else can send you one message as a message request, which you can accept (or answer), delete or block; they can write again only once you accept. Adults can't send message requests to users under 18. Messages are seen only by the two people in the chat (and by our moderators if one is reported). Unsending a message removes it for both of you; deleting a chat removes it for you only.
6. What is not allowed, and how we moderate
We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. What is not allowed is in our Community Guidelines: in short, nothing illegal, nothing sexual involving minors, no nudity or sexual content, no violence or hate, no harassment, no images of people without their consent, no dangerous or fake events, no spam or scams, no selling of tickets, drugs or other goods, and nothing that harms the service (abuse, scraping, reverse engineering, overloading it).
How we find content that breaks the rules:
- Automatic checks before posting. Public texts (comments, captions, profiles, events) are checked against a list of slurs and illegal terms. Photos, video frames, event covers and profile pictures are rated by an automated image filter (Google Cloud Vision SafeSearch). Clearly explicit material is refused; doubtful photos and videos are posted hidden until a moderator has looked at them. Automated checks never remove an account or give a strike: decisions are taken by a person. Private messages are not checked automatically.
- Reports. Anyone can report a profile, an event, a photo or video, a story, a comment or a message they received, in the app (••• → Report, or a long press on the message) or, also without an account, through our form for illegal content. Serious reports (for example about a minor) hide the content at once until a moderator decides.
- Review by a person. Our moderators review reports and held content, normally within 24 hours, diligently and without arbitrariness, and decide by our Community Guidelines and the law.
What we can do:
- remove content, or hide it while we review it;
- give a strike for each removal: the first is a warning, the second pauses your posting for 7 days, the third (within 12 months) suspends your account;
- suspend an account at once for serious violations, and close it for good for severe or repeated ones (see section 10). Illegal content is kept as evidence and reported to the authorities where the law requires it (always for child sexual abuse material, and when someone's life or safety is at risk).
You are told why. When we hide or remove your content or restrict your account, we tell you in the app what we did, which rule it breaks, whether automated tools were involved and how you can contest it. Whoever reported it is told the outcome. Removed content is kept for 30 days (the time to appeal) and then deleted; until then it still counts against your storage.
Appeal. You can appeal a decision once, within 30 days, from the notification we sent you (or by email). A moderator looks at it again, normally within 24 hours; if we were wrong, we restore the content and withdraw the strike. You can always also take the matter to court.
7. Free plan and MeetHive! Premium
- Joining and attending events is free. The free plan has limits (upcoming events, guests per event, how far ahead, storage, photo and video sizes), shown in the app.
- MeetHive! Premium is an auto-renewable subscription (monthly or yearly) that raises these limits and adds features such as recurring events, co-hosts, guest stats and a boosted spot on the map. Prices are shown in the app before you buy.
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID or Google account at confirmation of purchase. The subscription renews automatically at the same price for the same period unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the end of the current period; renewal is charged within 24 hours before the period ends.
- If a free trial is offered, the subscription starts and is charged when the trial ends unless you cancel at least 24 hours before; any unused part of a trial ends when you buy a subscription.
- Manage or cancel in your App Store or Google Play account settings. Cancelling stops the next renewal; Premium stays active until the end of the paid period. Deleting the app or your MeetHive! account does not cancel the subscription.
- Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies. This doesn't limit any rights you have by law.
- If Premium ends, your events and content stay; new events and uploads follow the free limits again, and nothing is deleted if you are over the free storage (you just can't add more).
- We may change prices for future periods; the store will tell you in advance and, where required, ask for your consent.
8. Availability and changes
We work to keep MeetHive! available, but the service is provided "as is" and may sometimes be unavailable. We may change or improve features; if we stop the service we'll give reasonable notice.
9. Liability
Events are organized by their hosts, not by us: to the extent permitted by law, we aren't liable for what happens at an event, for the behaviour of users, or for indirect damages. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law (such as for intent, gross negligence, or injury to life and health), or your rights as a consumer.
10. Ending the agreement
You can stop using MeetHive! and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close accounts that seriously or repeatedly break these terms or the law, as described in section 6; except for serious violations we warn you first.
11. Contact points
For users, and for authorities of the EU Member States, the European Commission and the European Board for Digital Services (Digital Services Act, articles 11 and 12): valeriosantucci.at@gmail.com, in English, German or Italian. Reports of illegal content: in the app or through our form.
12. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by Austrian law, without its conflict-of-law rules and the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you can bring proceedings in the courts where you live.
13. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms or the Community Guidelines, we update the version above and tell you in the app before important changes apply; the app asks you to accept the new version before you go on. If you don't agree, you can delete your account.
14. Apple
If you use MeetHive! on an Apple device: these terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple isn't responsible for the app or its content, has no obligation to provide support for it, and isn't liable for claims about it. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
